Healthcare services in the Heretaunga Block at Hutt Hospital are operating as normal.
Hutt Valley District Health Board (HVDHB) has received a seismic assessment (this is a report that tells us how the building may perform in an earthquake) that found the Heretaunga Block to be earthquake-prone. We have had this reviewed. The updated advice shows that the ratings of some of the building’s main structural elements have improved.
The risk to people is still low and we can use the building while we find other places for people to receive treatment or access our services.
Your safety and the safety of our staff comes first.
Please continue accessing our services as you normally would.
Please follow the guidance of our staff and any signage or fencing you see around the building.
At the moment:
We are following the expert advice of engineers.
We have emergency plans in place to make sure everyone is safe.
You may see new signs and fencing around the building that are helping keep everyone safe.
We are exploring other options about where we deliver our services (where you come for treatment)
