HUTT HOSPITAL

Older age can be one of the best and one of the hardest periods of our lives. Sometimes older people, their families and carers need to make decisions about an older person staying at home.

Many people prefer to remain in their own home with community support but there are times when it is necessary to move to another level of support. There are many options which can include moving to retirement villages, day care options and rest homes. If you are concerned speak with your family or doctor.

If you are considering residential care you will be required to have a needs assessment. The assessment will determine your eligibility for funded aged residential care.

For Hutt Valley residents you can contact the Service Co-ordination Centre for a needs assessment 04 566 2226.
