Wellington Water are replacing the existing water main that supplies Hutt Hospital, and residential and commercial properties in Pilmuir Street and Copeland Street.

Pilmuir Street

Why is this happening?

This project is the final part of a four-stage pipe replacement that will safeguard the supply of water to Hutt Hospital and Hutt City in the event of an emergency such as an earthquake.

When is this happening?

Wellington Water will start work on Monday 14 January 2019. We expect the project to take approximately 3 months, finishing in April 2019.

Planned water outages

Later in the project, there will be short planned water shutdowns, lasting up to four hours, as we switch supply over from the old to the new pipe.

Wellington Water will provide notice of the exact timing of these shutdowns at least 48 hours prior - and will provide support to people and businesses who have essential water needs.
