Margareth Broodkoorn - who started working as a registered nurse - works at the Minister of Health.
She is New Zealand’s Chief Nursing Officer and leads the Office of the Chief Nursing Officer Business Unit within the Ministry of Health.
The Chief Nursing Officer is part of the Executive Leadership Team, reflecting the importance of clinical leadership in the health system.
As we reflect on the mahi of nurses and midwives, we take inspiration from this whakataukī:
“Titiro whakamuri kōkiri whakamua – Look back and reflect so you can move forward.”
In so doing we honour our ancestors and learn from past mistakes.
