Paramedic Tony Nicholas, 70, will be a familiar face to many, as he has notched up more than 40 years of service with Wellington Free Ambulance. Much of this time has been spent out the Hutt and Tony remembers when the first cardiac care programme in New Zealand was introduced in Lower Hutt. Cardiologists from Hutt Hospital conducted their training and it became a template for care around the rest of the country.
