Share your healthy lunchbox tips on our facebook page

Kids are heading back to school. That means it’s time for school lunches that help your children learn well and grow strong and healthy.

Check out these tips to make healthy lunches that will get eaten:

  • Get kids to help choose and make their own lunch.
  • This will save time and mean they will be more likely to eat what is packed.
  • Homemade is best. Sandwiches or wraps with healthy fillings. Include vegetables like lettuce and carrot that are filling and healthy. Bulk lunches up with fruit instead of biscuits, muesli bars or chippies which can be high in fat and sugar. Don’t be afraid to use leftovers, they take the effort out of planning. Try last night’s meal as a sandwich filling.
  • Pack a water bottle instead of juice or fizzy drink. It’s free and can be refilled throughout the day and is best for teeth.
  • If a complete lunchbox makeover is too much right now, try changing one thing at a time. Small changes can have a big impact.
