From Monday 9 May, members of the PSA union will undertake industrial action across the country’s DHBs, including Hutt Valley and Capital & Coast DHBs.

The industrial action will be undertaken in two forms.

From 8am Monday 9 May to 11.58pm Sunday 15 May, and from 12.01am Tuesday 17 May to 6pm Friday 20 May, PSA members taking part in the action:

•Will not work before agreed paid start times

•Will not work after agreed paid finish times

•Will stop work to take all entitled breaks

PSA members taking part in the action will also undertake a complete withdrawal of labour from 11.59pm Sunday 15 May to 11.59pm Monday 16 May.

Detailed contingency planning is in place across the 2DHBS patient, client, and staff safety and wellbeing remains our highest priority and focus during this time.

Any patients or clients who are affected by the strike are being contacted accordingly – if you are unsure whether your appointment or procedure is affected, please call your clinical care team.

The region’s emergency departments will remain open throughout the strike and anyone experiencing mental health crisis should call Te Haika on 0800 745 477.
