If you, or someone in your whanau, feels unwell we’ve developed a new guide to help you choose the right place to go to get the healthcare you need.

Sometimes you may not need to come to hospital. Our new guide will help you decide what help you need and when.

Our Emergency Department (ED) at Hutt Hospital is open but ONLY for emergencies.

Please help keep our ED staff free to help those who need it the most.

The colour wheel and image quickly shows where you can go to get help:

1) Call a help line for free confidential advice:

    2) Your local pharmacy can give advice on medication and minor health concerns.

3) Call your local GP.

    • The team at your GP clinic might be able to see you quicker and are experts in your care. Check out the General Practice Directory for local GPs

4) Afterhours – If you are unable to get an appointment with your GP visit one of the afterhours clinics in the Hutt Valley.

5) Hospital ED – If it’s for a life threatening illness.
