We have received notification from the Resident Doctors' Association that Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) will again be striking from 08.00am on Tuesday 26 February to 08.00am on Thursday 28 February 2019 (48 hours).
We are deferring many elective operations and outpatient clinics. Patients are being notified via text message, email or phone about any deferment to their appointment/surgery.

People who are uncertain about their scheduled appointments or procedures should call (04) 570 9555.

The Emergency Department (ED) at Hutt Hospital will remain open during the strike; and we ask people to remember that ED is for emergencies only.

As always with strikes, our number one consideration is patient safety. Our planning to ensure we are resourced to maintain life preserving services including our emergency department, maternity care, ICU and acute surgery for the duration of the strike is well underway. If people need to come to hospital they can.

Anyone unsure about whether they need ED care should contact their GP or call Healthline (0800 611 116) for free advice from a registered nurse.
