Hutt Valley DHB seeks your views on its draft strategy that will guide the development of pharmacist services over the next 5 years. You can find the strategy here.
The draft strategy draws from a number of sources including national and local strategies, a local workshop to identify priorities for action, and international literature on future pharmacist services. It takes account of our populations of need and the location of our current pharmacist providers. In particular the strategy mirrors the structure of HVDHB’s Vision for Change.
The strategy will complement the new national contract for pharmacy services that places more emphasis on cognitive services and provides for the development of local priorities.
The key themes of the draft strategy are:
- releasing pharmacists from supply activities to enable better provision of patient and prescriber advice
- integration of pharmacists with the wider care team to provide shared care for complex patients
- better management of information about medication and care plans (one source)
- improving equity by channelling more resources to the DHBs priority populations.
We look forward to receiving your feedback which we will consider before amending the draft strategy and seeking the approval of our Board.
Please provide feedback on the draft strategy by 30 September through this survey.
