A new mobile app is available for you to download that will tell you where to find your closest Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

The Hutt Valley Heart Trust is working with the Coronary Care Unit at Hutt Hospital to reduce the number of people who die from a very serious heart attack.

Each year, 1900 people suffer cardiac arrest throughout New Zealand. Unfortunately, only 6% have a defibrillator available to restart the heart. There are often Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) available but bystanders don't know where they are. If you are not familiar with AEDS, you can now learn more from the AED locations website.

Remember, if you see someone collapse and they are not breathing, ensure someone starts CPR immediately, call 111 for an ambulance and check out the location of an AED. It could save a life.
